More about Amy

"I am an amateur sourdough baker, honorary redhead, and Mum of one. In my spare time, I love visiting the beach, reading, listening to music, growing vegetables and herbs, collecting crystals, and practicing Reiki (to name a few)! Previously, I worked as a research scientist and began my holistic training alongside studying for my Ph.D.

I have also worked as a sports massage therapist for the elite athlete squad at Newcastle University and as a Pilates Instructor for the Centre for Physical Recreation and Sport at Newcastle University. After qualifying in Pilates, I trained in pre and postnatal fitness - just in time for the arrival of my little one!

My experience as a first-time Mum prompted me to leave my career in science to focus on raising my daughter. I did further training with Adore Your Pelvic Floor to increase my knowledge of pelvic health and to help provide much-needed education to women on this 'taboo' subject.

I'm an eternal student and absolutely love training in new treatments! I bring a unique approach to my treatments, combining personal experience, science, research, Pilates-based movement, and holistics.

I look forward to meeting you at Guru Holistic Therapies soon!"

Tal,
(Indian head massage)

Thank you, Amy, for a lovely Indian head massage. When I go for a treatment I like to get wrapped in a blanket and lie down, so I was worried I wouldn’t be able to relax sitting on a chair. How wrong was I!

Amy’s calming and nurturing manner had me relaxed in minutes, and I actually think I started to nod off towards the end of the treatment.

I spend a lot of time at a computer desk and Amy helped ease the tension from my neck and scalp, just lush. Thanks, Amy, I’m looking forward to my next treatment. xx

Ian,
(Deep tissue massage)

Amy looked after me when I was suffering back trouble due to extra movement compensation for a couple of long-term injuries.

She expertly identified the problem areas and how they were affecting me. Once located, she was able to work on remediation with the application of various pressure techniques.

The treatments also left me feeling relaxed and in a positive mood - a bonus in anyone's book!

Lynne,
(Indian head massage)

I had an Indian head massage with Amy and it was amazing!

Afterward, I felt deeply relaxed and even had relief from scar tissue from a surgical procedure I had last year!

The ambiance was very authentic, with relaxing Indian music playing and calming aromatherapy. I would highly recommend.

Stephen,
(Sports massage
pre-event)

Having completed 25 Great North Runs by the age of 69, I was well aware of the need for adequate preparation in the lead-up to a half marathon. I noticed some minor niggles creeping in a few weeks before the GNR, and went to see Amy.

I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The session with Amy was professional and thorough and I left feeling both relaxed and energised.

Two days later, I completed the GNR feeling wholly fit and confident, in one of my fastest times for several years - Amy's treatment certainly worked for me!
